Hello Ali! I am on day 263 of morning pages since you started us off last winter. I missed a day here or there and there is vast room to improve my artist’s date ritual; it is currently nonexistent.

Burnout? Yes. I agreed to do things without checking my internal compass, stumbling down someone else’s path, believing it would take me where I want to go. Spoiler alert; it lead to frustration, overwhelm, and a lack of satisfaction. I believe I am further away from my personal plan.

This week I said no to things that don’t fill my cup. I am taking time to myself and feathering my nest by putting delicious meals in the freezer, cluttering spaces and doing fall’s version of spring cleaning. I am preparing for what comes next, whatever that may be.

Gratitude? You bet! Every day I take time to be thankful for something.

Oh! One more thing, although I do not have the funds to whisk myself away to Europe to join you, a friend and I will be heading to sacred land near home for a three night writer’s retreat of our own; sequestering ourselves during the day, meeting at night to share progress. 🥰. Thank you and others here for that inspiration.

That's so lovely, I'm so happy to hear it!!! You definitely don't have to be in Europe to feel the benefits of retreating. I was lucky that a friend invited me to stay at her apartment for free (and was already in Europe for my retreats). I'm so proud of you for keeping your morning pages up. Has it transformed your life in a tangible way?

Yes it has. I work out issues on the page. I celebrate successes and when I am really lucky, the muse speaks to me.

I find my yoga practice has greater depth because I dump my busy brain onto the page.

I will do it at bedtime if there is no time in the morning.

I am grateful for the practice.

So nice to see your post arrive in my inbox! Glad to hear you have taken the time you needed to rest and rejuvenate. After such a busy year with the weddings, I'm totally happy to spend the remainder of the year enjoying quiet activities, time in the garden or at the fire pit, cleaning, napping, and writing. I'm tempted to ask what the differences are that you are anticipating for The Artist's Way, but I have some projects already planned and I think it would tip the apple cart, lol. Welcome back!!! 💜
