I felt all of this. Loneliness, or absence of community, became such an issue for my wife and me during the pandemic. We're only now realizing that visiting friends and family, while fulfilling, is short-lived. We need a more immediate sense of community.

I think this is why so many people miss college so much. It's not because of the keg parties and tailgates -- well, not just that -- it's because it's so damned hard to replicate such a close-knit community in adulthood.

I appreciate this episode. I'll definitely check out Aimée's book.

Thank you for listening and sharing this, Pablo! I think so many people can relate, and I certainly can too. Community is always the best antidote to loneliness for me, but it can be hard to find, especially since COVID began. I actually felt it in the early days of the pandemic ("we're all in this together!") but since then I've felt a lack of community, in part because I'm still working from home. And of course, with partnerships, kids, and aging, it can be easy to prioritize other things. I think just being aware of it and consciously thinking about building community is the best place to start!

Didn't realize how badly I needed to her that quote about how you don't have to believe in yourself to finish a project. Maybe I'll actually finish my script now :)
