You Finished Your Script. Now What?

Last month I held a character workshop for Script Anatomy, and afterwards there was time for a Q & A. Several people asked what to do with the pilots they’d written. It’s a question I get again and again. You’ve done the work. You’re proud of it. Now what? How do you actually use it to your benefit? This waiting period can feel hopeless.
Remember that the most important part of finishing a pilot is that you’ve set yourself up for success.
A manager from Principato Young reached out to me after my very first viral video asking to read a sample. I spent all weekend finishing a pilot, sent him something mediocre, and never heard from him again. It took two more years before another manager reached out to me, and three until I signed with an agent. Don’t be me.
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity, as they say. With a pilot you’re proud of, you’ll be ready and prepared to rise to the occasion when an opportunity presents itself. By simply having a script you’re proud of, you’ve given yourself a massive gift.
