Five Prompts To Help With Writer’s Block
Here are a few tools I use to generate story ideas. Plus, a new workshop!
Working as a writer means constantly generating new ideas.
If you’re writing something to sell, you might be working under pretty script parameters. (Is it FRESH but not too risky?) If you’re writing something for yourself or as a sample, you have much more freedom.
Whichever category you fall under, there will likely come a time when you’ll think: I’m done. I’m out of ideas. There is not a single good idea in my brain.
There’s nothing better than writing from influence: When an idea pops into your head, consumes you, and flows effortlessly onto the page. The trick is, we also have to write when inspiration doesn’t miraculously strike.
When I’m not blessed with a creative spark, I can meander about wondering if I’ll ever again find an idea that I genuinely love without it feeling forced.
The good news? I can! You can! We all have the ability to come up with an endless well of new ideas. Even when we feel stuck, it is possible to do some hard work to push past creative blocks and generate stories that we can’t wait to write.
