Thank you for sharing this. I felt your words so deeply, having gone through something very similar. The feeling of the rug being pulled out from under you, the feeling of being in a free fall like some kind of broken Alice in Wonderland, the feelings of betrayal and bewilderment...all of it is so difficult and sharing all of it in this moment of vulnerability is so powerful. Thank you. There are so many hearts with you. Everything is perfect is so very true, even if it hurts. Sending you love and strength.

I'm sorry for what you went through. Betrayal is so difficult because it truly causes cognitive dissonance to wrap our heads around the reality of who somebody is vs. who we thought they were. Something I've learned since this happened is how many women have similar stories, we are not alone! Free falling like a broken Alice In Wonderland is *chef's kiss* and describes it perfectly. Sending love and strength back to you ❀️

After my sister's divorce, she went on an ayahuasca retreat. She was searching. She had a strong physical reaction to the ayahuasca and felt compelled to hide in some corner, so she crawled into a nearby closet for comfort. She was seeing visions of guilt. Eventually, the man leading the ceremony found her in the closet. She knew it was strange that she was in the closet, so when she noticed the man leading the ceremony had discovered her hiding place, she said, "I'm not supposed to be here." His were the same words the Argentinian painter said to you: β€œYou are exactly where you are supposed to be.”

I found it moving then, and I find it moving now, in your piece, Ali. I wanted to share that with you and thank you for being so vulnerable. It can't be easy. I'm compelled to give you words of encouragement, but they would be hollow coming from a stranger like me. Just know that you've moved people with your words. Maybe there's some comfort in that. I hope you find the perfect time to start paddling again.

That's so beautiful Pablo, thank you for sharing and for your words of encouragement β€” they are so absolutely appreciated. Writing about this is not easy, but it feels necessary. And while I've never done ayahuasca, plant medicine helped my healing a lot this summer.

I had to stop what I was doing to devour this. So beautifully written. I do hope you write a book about your adventures and healing journey, or at least keep writing here. Your ability to pull us into your world is amazing and rare. Thank you for sharing

This was so honest and raw. I could feel it so clearly. Crying at the nail salon was not on my bingo card today. Beautifully written.
